Event Description:
Walter Deege was born in the Netherlands prior to World War II and remembers the war like it happened yesterday. Walter lived and survived through the times of the German occupation in Holland and we invite you to hear his story.
Walter's family hid people from the Germans during World War II in Holland. His Father, who was active in the underground, helped many Jewish individuals escape from the Nazis and eventually was caught by the SS, transported to a concentration camp and killed three days before the camp was liberated by the Allies. Even after his father was taken away, his mother, as well as Walter and his brothers, helped hide Jewish people in their attic.
Walter is very active in the business world, owning a property management company, a store called "Original Digital", and Sears Hometown Store.
