Description: Carroll College invites applicants for an Accounting Specialist. This position responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable area of the Business Office. The incumbent is responsible for all disbursements, except Payroll, including vendor payments and faculty, staff, and student reimbursements. Exercises independent judgment and initiative to ensure fiscal integrity of all payable records; establishes and modifies accounts payable procedures based on policies; maintains accurate and complete payable records for the college; assists with planning, developing and evaluating the College’s disbursement policies to assure compliance with policies of the College and generally accepted accounting standards and the ability to work under strict time constraints. Researches and interprets new and existing federal and state regulations relative to the accounts payable area, such as analyzing and reporting taxable income to foreign students reported on Form 1042-S and taxable income to independent contractors on Form 1099; assists in maintaining vendor data records and prepares necessary reports required by the State Tax Board and the Internal Revenue Service. Compiles, interprets and analyzes data used in the preparation of various financial reports. Other responsibilities include preparation of monthly account reconciliations and schedules, auditing general ledger accounts, assisting in the College’s annual audit and will be responsible for improving and re-engineering related business processes. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field, plus 2 years of progressively responsible basic accounting experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
