Independent Record

The Independent Record (often abbreviated to IR) is a daily newspaper printed and distributed in Helena, Montana. It has a daily and Sunday circulation of approximately 14,000, according to the September 30, 2005, Audit Bureau of Circulations Publisher Statement. The newspaper is part of the Lee Enterprises group, which owns 48 newspapers in 23 states. The IR's history is as rich as the history of our community, with roots in two newspapers first published more than 130 years ago, The Independent and the Montana Record-Herald. Today, the IR has a daily circulation of 14,250 and a Sunday circulation of 14,800; it's read daily by more than 30,000 people.
