Job Description
Robert Peccia and Associates (RPA), a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, forward-thinking Bridge Engineer to join our Helena or Kalispell, Montana office. This individual will work closely with our bridge project manager and transportation staff to help with the preparation of bridge design, plans, specifications, and estimates.  They will assist with structural evaluations, load ratings, studies, and be responsible for identifying and evaluating improvement alternatives for bridge projects.  The successful candidate will have a strong interest in bridge design and the interpersonal skills to interface with clients and the public. 
We will consider applicants with varied experience levels and qualifications and are willing to train the right candidate.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Superior attention to detail and technical proficiency
  • Ability and desire to learn new software
  • Self-motivated and willing to work as part of a team to solve problems
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing

Additional Qualifications:

Bridge Project Designer:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field must include courses in structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design
  • 0-4 years of experience in bridge design and structural analysis
  • Certification as an engineer intern or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hiring
Bridge Project Engineer:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in bridge design and structural analysis
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Montana.  Individuals with a valid PE registration in another state that are eligible to obtain Montana PE registration through comity within 6 months will also be considered.
  • Proficiency in current bridge design and finite element analysis software
  • Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk Civil 3D software

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with state and/or FHWA bridge design procedures
  • Bridge load rating experience
  • Proficiency with AASHTOWARE Bridge Design and Rating software
