Our Fiber Operations team is looking to add an Underground Construction Laborer which includes general construction labor duties related to horizontal construction and underground utilities work. Candidates must be willing to work in all weather conditions, temperatures, and climates. We are willing to train the right candidate for this position. Qualifications:  Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.  Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.  Transportation to and from the job sites.  Ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers.  Basic knowledge of and ability to operate hand tools and equipment safely.  Ability to work in a team environment. Willingness to learn. Preferred Qualifications:  CDL preferred, but not required. Six months of experience in the underground utility construction industry. Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities.  Familiar with trenching and excavation safety measures  Duties and responsibilities:  All underground construction phases include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weight of construction materials and equipment.  Hand dig using a shovel and mechanical tools.  Installing various size products of fiber and poly duct using several different methods assisting operators in vibratory plows, hydro vac, open excavation, fiber blower, and horizontal drill. Provide ground support for heavy equipment and drill operators Loading and unloading various size products of fiber and poly duct onto chin busters and hydraulic reel trailers. Installing fiber access points whether it is a pedestal, vault, or aerial Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, equipment, etc.).  Drive pick-up and one-ton vehicles to and from job site. Can work in congested or remote areas.  Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewmen and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure movement coordination.  Perform general construction work under the direction of Fiber Crew Chief.   Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.  Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: Must be physically able to endure the daily activity involved with the job  Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds  Must be able to work in all weather conditions Schedule: Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some required overtime and weekend work occasionally. Daily start times vary with the season.
